SUMP PUMP CALCULATION PROJECT : VANTAGE @ PLOT NO.JVC 18TCP006 Sump Pump – 1 (Located at Underground Pump room) Assumptions, Water Tank Total Capacity = 539 Cu. m Assume Half of tank will drain in 12 hours Q = 539/ 2 / 12 Q = 22.45 Cu. m / hour Q = 374 LPM Sump pit is provided with volume 2 x 2 x 2 m = 6 Cu. m = 6000 Liters (Including Free Board) The sump pit can hold the drain water for 16 minutes. The sump pump shall be able to empty the sump pit in 15 minutes Therefore the sump pump capacity shall be, 374 LPM = 6.23 LPS With factor of safety 15%, the pump capacity will be 7.2 LPS Static head = 5 m Friction loss due fittings and Horizontal piping= 2.5 m Outlet pressure = 5 m Subtotal = 5+2.5+5=12.5 m Considering 15% safety factor = 14.375m, say 15 m Hence the sump pump selected for 7.2 LPS @ 15 m (1 Duty + 1 Standby).
